By Erin Freeman | Lynnwood Times Staff

Lake Stevens, Wash., February 22, 2021 – A 20-year old woman drowned in Lake Stevens Saturday, February 20, according to the Lake Stevens Police Department.

At approximately 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, Lake Stevens resident Anna Marie Lopez got out of a vehicle off of North Lakeshore Drive and ran down a dock before jumping into Lake Stevens, said Commander Jeff Beazizo.

Witnesses and speculation indicate that Lopez had been drinking and was highly intoxicated at the time, Cmdr. Beazizo told the Lynnwood Times. Within 30 to 60 days a medical examiner’s report will conclude what was in the victim’s system at the time of death.

An independent witness in the parking lot told police that three of Lopez’s friends were in the vehicle when the incident occurred.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded and attempted CPR for 50 minutes.

According to Weatherspak, the average surface water temperature in Lake Stevens for February is between 45°F and 47°F.

  1. It would be better to wait for medical examiner reports than to print about people who are deceased and what is speculated. There was a tragedy. No need to add drama for news. We need to change the narrative.

  2. AnnaMarie was a spunky, joyful, exuberant young woman who struggled with multiple tragedies in her young life. Sadly alcohol colored those struggles. Her family and friends are heartbroken.

    1. These fucking 5 thoughts are bullshit dude. A women has passed away and there’s a fucking comment section??? Like y’all are sick dude the fact she can’t just Rest In Peace. I love you Anna bean and I know you would be proud of me saying this.

  3. I’m so sorry for her family and friends. She was my grand daughters best friend in school, they were like the 3 musketeers and each others shadows. She will be missed by so many. Our prayers are with you.
