Changes to school mask requirements

Below is a message from Dr. Gustavo Balderas, Superintendent of the Edmonds School District:

Dear Edmonds School District families,

We want to share important information about the mask requirements in our schools.

On Feb. 17, 2022, Gov. Jay Inslee announced the statewide indoor mask requirement for Washington state, including in our K–12 schools, is scheduled to end on March 21, 2022. A federal mandate will still require masks to be worn on school buses.

Until March 21, masks are required for all students and staff on our campuses.

We expect new guidance from the Department of Health for K-12 schools in early March.

We will discuss mask wearing with our School Board during our meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 22. The meeting will be live streamed and available on our website at 6:30 p.m.

We thank you for your continued flexibility as we navigate this pandemic together and will communicate updates as we learn them.

In partnership,

Dr. Gustavo Balderas
Superintendent
