SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash., September 1, 2022—Around 4:45 a.m. Monday, Sheriff’s Office deputies and Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) detectives responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian collision in the 12200 block of Airport Rd. When deputies arrived, they located the victim, a 32-year-old man, with life-threatening injuries. He was transported by aid to the hospital where he later died. During the investigation, detectives discovered the victim was crossing the road in a non-crosswalk area when he was hit. The driver initially fled the scene but was located by deputies shortly after. This is an active investigation. Detectives do not believe drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
On Thursday, August 25 deputies responded around 1 p.m. to a single-vehicle fatal motorcycle crash in the 35300 block of Mountain Loop Highway. The driver, a 77-year-old Granite Falls man, was transported by aid with life-threatening injuries. He died later that day at the hospital.
On Thursday, August 25 deputies responded around 8:15 a.m. to the 2500 block of Newberg Rd for a single-vehicle fatal collision. CIU detectives responded to the scene and learned the driver stopped her vehicle to pick something up off the road and her vehicle ran her over when she stepped out. The driver, a 63-year-old woman, was transported by aid with life-threatening injuries. She died later that day at the hospital.
On Thursday, August 18 deputies responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian fatal collision around 2 p.m. to the 15500 block of SR 9 in Snohomish. Upon arrival, deputies located a 4-year-old child with life-threatening injuries. First responders performed lifesaving measures, but the child was pronounced deceased at the scene. During the investigation, detectives learned a vehicle was driving up a driveway when the child ran out in front of it and was struck. Detectives do not believe drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
On Wednesday, August 17 detectives responded to the 29200 block of Mountain Loop Hwy around 1:30 p.m. for a single-vehicle fatal collision. Upon arrival, detectives located the driver, a 43-year-old man, deceased at the scene. During the investigation, detectives discovered the vehicle drifted off the roadway and crashed down an embankment.
On Friday, August 12 around 9 a.m., detectives responded to a three-vehicle serious injury collision at the intersection of 8th Ave W and 128th Street. During the investigation, detectives learned a passenger vehicle ran a red light and struck a garbage truck, causing the garbage truck to roll over and collide with a third vehicle. Detectives discovered the driver and passenger in the causing vehicle were having a domestic dispute when the driver ran the red light. The driver of the causing vehicle, a 28-year-old man, was arrested and booked into jail. The passenger in his vehicle, a 29-year-old woman, was transported by aid with minor injuries. The driver of the garbage truck, a 48-year-old man, was transported by aid with life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger in the third vehicle were not injured. This is an active investigation.
On Friday, August 5 at 6:30 p.m. detectives responded to a single-vehicle fatal motorcycle collision at Mountain Loop Hwy and Monte Cristo Rd. The driver, a 22-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Detectives believe the motorcycle driver lost control, left the roadway and struck a rock wall.
On Saturday, July 30 around 8 p.m. detectives responded to a single-vehicle fatal collision in the 31900 block of 363rd Ave NE in Arlington. Upon arrival, deputies located the driver, a 23-year-old Darrington man, deceased at the scene. CIU detectives discovered the vehicle left the roadway, hit a log and flipped over. Detectives believe speed and alcohol may be contributing factors.
On Friday, July 29 around 11 p.m., deputies responded to a vehicle vs motorcycle serious-injury collision in the 5600 block of Lowell Larimer Rd. The motorcycle driver, a 33-year-old man, was ejected from his motorcycle and sustained serious injuries. He was transported to the hospital by aid. The driver of the passenger vehicle, a 20-year-old man, was not injured. He was arrested for driving under the influence. This is an active investigation.
