Please join us for this FREE event to celebrate the Day of the Dead, one of the most important Mexican holidays. Traditionally celebrated on November 1st or 2nd, it is a time for families to honor and celebrate their ancestors. People also dress as catrinas (skeletons) and write poems (often satirical) called calaveritas literarias (literary skulls).
This Day of the Dead celebration, sponsored by the WAGRO (Washington-Guerrero) Foundation in collaboration with the City of Lynnwood, features a contest of Altars, Catrinas, and Calaveritas Literarias and is calling for contestants. A panel of judges will determine the winners in each category for first, second and third place which include monetary prizes. This event is imperative due to the fact that it creates a special shared space for healing, comfort, and reflection. We invite you to visit and contribute your own ofrenda to the Community Altar that will be exhibited at the front of the event entrance and we encourage attendees to place a photo or memento on the “Día de los Muertos” community altar.
This year’s event will feature art, music, food, raffles, competitions, and kid’s activities. Music will feature world-renowned, singer-songwriter Paco Diez from Spain.
Everyone in the community, regardless of background, is welcomed to honor a lost family member, friend, pet or even a historical figure who is important to you.

CELEBRACIÓN DE DÍA DE MUERTOS
Únase a nosotros a este evento GRATUITO para celebrar el Día de los Muertos, una de las fiestas mexicanas más importantes. Celebrado tradicionalmente el 1 o 2 de noviembre, es un momento para que las familias honren y celebren a sus antepasados. Las personas también se visten como catrinas (esqueletos) y escriben poemas (a menudo satíricos) llamados calaveritas literarias (calaveras literarias).
Esta celebración del Día de Muertos, patrocinada por la Fundación WAGRO (Washington-Guerrero) en colaboración con la Ciudad de Lynnwood, realizara un concurso de Altares, Catrinas y Calaveritas Literarias y está llamando a concursantes. Un panel de jueces determinará los ganadores en cada categoría para el primer, segundo y tercer lugar que incluyen premios en efectivo. Este evento es imperativo debido al hecho de que crea un espacio compartido especial para la sanación, el consuelo y la reflexión. Lo invitamos a visitar y contribuir con su propia ofrenda al Altar Comunitario que se exhibirá al frente de la entrada del evento y alentamos a los asistentes a colocar una foto o un recuerdo en el altar comunitario “Día de los Muertos”.
Todos en la comunidad, independientemente de su origen, son bienvenidos para honrar a un familiar, amigo, mascota o incluso una figura histórica que es importante para usted.
