Marysville police investigating July 4th fatal vehicle accident

MARYSVILLE, Wash., July 4, 2023—A 16-year-old Marysville youth is deceased as a result of a one car rollover accident that occurred just after midnight on July 4th in the 4700 block of 136th St. NE., in Marysville.

Marysville officers and fire personnel arrived on-scene and located three male passengers in a ditch beside the roadway; all three had been ejected from the vehicle. Witnesses indicated a fourth male subject involved had walked away from the scene who was later located about half a mile away near his residence.

The roadway was closed for several hours while members of the Marysville Collision Investigation Unit (CIU) processed the scene.  Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling eastbound on 136th and the driver lost control after going over railroad tracks located in the 4500 block.  Speed appears to be a factor in the collision.

All four youths, two aged 15 and two aged 16, involved in the fatal vehicle accident are Marysville residents.  Two were transported by aid car to Providence Hospital in Everett; one of which was eventually transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.  The driver was transported to a hospital by family.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will release information regarding the deceased.

The investigation is ongoing.
