County Auditor seeks committee members for local ballot statements

EVERETT, December 16, 2023—The Snohomish County Auditor’s Office is seeking individuals to write statements for or against local ballot measures for the February 13, 2024, Special Election local voters’ pamphlet. Pamphlets will be mailed to voters as an insert with the ballot packet.

Committees are comprised of up to three individuals, one of whom is designated chair and serves as a contact point for the Auditor’s office. Committees may seek input from any number of other individuals or groups.

Individuals interested in participating on a committee should have a clear interest for or against the ballot measure, be able to work cooperatively with other committee members, and have time available through Dec. 26. Most committees communicate through email.

Committees write a 250-word statement for or against local ballot measures in the local voters’ pamphlet. Committees also prepare a 75-word rebuttal to the opposition’s statement. Statements are due no later than at 5 p.m. Dec. 21. Rebuttal statements are due no later than 5 p.m. Dec. 26.

If you are interested in serving on a committee, email a statement of interest to elections@snoco.org by 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18 or contact the Auditor’s Office at (425) 388-3444. Individuals will be appointed by the County Auditor and will be notified on Dec. 18.

A statement of interest includes:

  1. your name,
  2. your email address,
  3. your phone number,
  4. the district name and proposition number for all committees for which you want to volunteer, and
  5. any information explaining why you should be on the committee.
