EDMONDS—Two dogs and four cats died in a fire that heavily damaged a home in Edmonds on Friday afternoon that took place at 1:30 p.m. in the 17100 block of Sea Lawn Drive in the Meadowdale area.
The residents were not at home when the fire broke out. Firefighters could see a black column of smoke as they approached the neighborhood. Flames were coming from the three-story house when the first South County Fire crew arrived.
More than 35 firefighters were on scene at the peak of the fire. They had the fire under control within 30 minutes but continued to deal with hot spots for more than two hours. No one was injured.
Support 7 and Red Cross responded to assist two displaced residents.
South County Fire is investigating the cause of the fire. The investigation is expected to continue into the weekend.
