Vigilance by concerned resident leads to recovery of stolen firearm

LYNNWOOD—Just days after Lynnwood Police Chief Cole Langdon released a video message reminding residents to stay vigilant, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Deputies apprehend a suspect in a vehicle with a stolen firearm.

Around 6:30 this morning, a concerned resident reported a male who was asleep behind the wheel of a black Mercedes at the intersection of 13th Ave W and 164th Street SW near the 164th Street Crossing Shopping Center. The resident shared that attempts to wake the driver of the vehicle were unsuccessful.

Snohomish County Sheriff Deputies responded and pinned in the Mercedes to prevent the suspect from driving away.

The suspect was detained and a 9mm pistol was found on his person. The 43-year-old driver was subsequently arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, and his vehicle was seized pending a search warrant.

The investigation is ongoing.
