Naval Station Everett hosts Change of Command Ceremony

EVERETT—Captain Stacy Wuthier relieved Captain Joshua Menzel, who had served as the Commanding Officer of Naval Station Everett since July of 2021, during a change of command ceremony on April 4, 2024, at base.

“Today, I turned over command of Naval Station Everett to CAPT Stacy Wuthier,” Captain Menzel wrote on LinkedIn, “It was an amazing tour, I got to work with an amazing team, on the installation and in the community. The installation is in great hands, and I am looking forward to watching from afar as CAPT Wuthier and the team continue to make Naval Station Everett the Sailor’s Choice!”

Captain Menzel’s next assignment will be as the Chief of Staff at Navy Region Europe, Africa, and Central in Naples Italy, relieving Captain Michael F Davis. Captain Wuthier, in a LinkedIn post thanked Captain Menzel for his help during their transition and wished him the best on his “next tour in Italy.”

A Colorado native, she enlisted in the Navy in 1995 and was commissioned through the Officer Candidate School and the Nuclear Enlisted Commissioning Program in 2000. Prior to arriving in Everett, Captain Wuthier was stationed at the Nuclear Power Training Unit in Ballston Spa, New York as the Commanding Officer. She has commanded the USS Jackson (LCS 6) Blue Crew homeported in San Diego, Cali. At sea, Wuthier was Executive Officer aboard USS Jackson (LCS 6) and USS Omaha (LCS 12).

Wuthier’s sea duty assignments include duty on a cruiser, a frigate, and aircraft carriers in both the Atlantic and Pacific fleets. During these tours, she deployed to the 5th and 7th Fleet areas of operation. She served as combat information center officer aboard USS Chancellorsville (CG 62); reactor controls division officer aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71); operations officer aboard USS Vandegrift (FFG 48); main propulsion assistant aboard USS George Washington (CVN 73); and reactor training assistant aboard USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78). She most recently served as executive officer aboard USS Jackson (LCS 6) Blue Crew.

Ashore, she has served as personnel exchange program officer in the operations directorate for Commander, Italian Maritime Forces, Taranto Italy; Commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic as USS Gerald R. Ford Class liaison; and the Joint Staff J7 as the assistant operations and training officer for the deployable training division.

Captain Wuthier earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2000 from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in Engineering Management from Old Dominion University.

Captain Wuthier’s decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards) and multiple unit commendations.
