Sound Transit announces closure of lanes on I-5 and in Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD—In preparation for the upcoming August 30 opening of the much-anticipated Lynnwood Link Extension, Sound Transit announces the closure of lanes in Lynnwood and Shoreline.

Night closures of northbound I-5 right lane and northbound I-5 on-ramp from NE 175th St

As early as Tuesday, May 14, Sound Transit will close the northbound I-5 right lane from NE 175th St to NE 195th St, including the closure of the northbound I-5 on-ramp from NE 175th St. Crews will be pouring concrete for the Lynnwood Link Extension. 

Summary of work:

  • Northbound I-5 on-ramp from NE 175th St and northbound I-5 right lane from NE 175th St to NE 195th St will be closed (see maps). 
  • Crews will work at night to minimize effects on traffic. 
  • Residents should expect construction noise from equipment being operated at night such as a concrete truck, a boom truck, a loader, a rotary hammer, a power vacuum, trucks and trailers, light plants, and various hand tools. 
  • If there are work delays, we will schedule additional closures and residents will receive a new flyer. 
  • Some bus routes may be affected. Please check the King County Metro website for details. 

To closures will be in effect from Tuesday, May 14, through Thursday, May 16, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following mornings. 

Lynnwood: Center lane closure on 44th Ave W (May 13 to June 27)

Starting Monday, May 13, Sound Transit’s contractor will begin median demolition and paving on 44th Ave W, then Traffic signal work on 44th Ave W causing a center lane closure will be performed. This will require closing the center lane on 44th Ave W, just south of 200th St SW. Detours for the left turn from 44th Ave W to 200th St SW will be allowed.

Lynnwood: Full closure of 46th Ave W (May 13 to May 17)

As early as Monday, May 13, Sound Transit’s contractor will continue working on utilities at 46th Ave W. This will require the closure of 46th Ave W south of 200th St SW. Detours will be provided (see map). The contractor has received a temporary noise variance to complete this work. The closure will only be in effect from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. from May 13 to May 17.

Thank you – it would help if you added that we’re talking about i5 on-ramp at exit 176 and lane closure from i5 exit 176-177 NB… considering this segment is entirely within Shoreline and your article opens with “LYNNWOOD” and left me scratching my head as to where NE 175th St and NE 195th St were

    1. Yup. Take my taxes for something I’ll never use. Fuck 405 let’s give non tax payers the ability to spread drugs all over the state
