LYNNWOOD—In a unanimous vote, Tuesday, June 4, Edmonds School District Board of Directors appointed Thom Garrard to fill the District 4 Director vacancy.
The Board interviewed candidates Rebecca Anderson and Thom Garrard on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. A third candidate withdrew on Monday. The public was invited to attend in person or watch the live stream. Following the interviews and review of public input, the Board deliberated in executive session.
After a little more than an hour of evaluating the qualifications of the candidates and coming to a decision, the Board reconvened in an open session and voted to appoint the new Director.
Thom Garrard will be sworn in at the Board’s regular business meeting on August 27, 2024. His term for this position ends in December 2025.

Garrard will fill the vacancy left by School Board Director Dr Deborah Kilgore is resigning from the Edmonds School District Board effective July 10, 2024, as she and her family will be moving out of state.
Director Kilgore made her announcement during the School Board meeting on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. She has served on the School Board for six and half years and has the following message to share with the Edmonds School District Community:
