Suspected drunk juvenile steals car, crashes into Lynnwood home

LYNNWOOD—A suspected drunk juvenile from Lynnwood stole a vehicle and subsequently crashed it into an unoccupied home in Lynnwood on Monday, June 3. The Juvenile was picked up by Lynnwood Police Officers a few blocks away and has since been released to their parents at the hospital, according to the Lynnwood PD.

Lynnwood Police Officers responded to a “shots fired” call around 10 p.m. Monday evening. No shots were actually fired. It is believed that the sound could have been the vehicle crashing into the home, the Lynnwood PD informed the Lynnwood Times.

The Lynnwood PD did not say if any official charges have been filed only that it is an active investigation and alcohol has been suspected.

The homeowners, who were not in their residence at the time, informed reporters working for King 5 that they estimate the damages are about $100,000.

King 5 also reported that the homeowner had been building the home for his entire family to live in and was hoping to move in within the next month but the damages have definitely set that plan back.

A surveillance camera captured the juvenile barreling toward the house going about 40 miles per hour when it tore through the fence and slammed into the side of the house. Coincidentally the homeowner was reportedly playing the video game Grand Theft Auto at the time.

The Lynnwood Times reached out to the Lynnwood PD, but the agency could not provide any additional information at this time as this is an active investigation.
