Forest Bathing is rooted in the Japanese practice of “shinrin-yoku.”  This does not mean that you will be taking a bath. Instead, you will immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the forest where you will take a deep breath, listen to the sounds or silence, feel stress of the day float away, and experience many other physiological and psychological benefits.

Your hosts are AASF Educator Kelly Singleterry, M.Ed., and Kayla Horton a licensed massage therapist (LMT) and Reiki practitioner (https://health.clevelandclinic.org/reiki).

Kelly will delve into the history and events that brought us to an understanding of the science behind the human-environment connection, and what it means for our wellbeing as present day people.

Then, Kayla will conduct a guided meditation. She will use intentional breath-work to focus on the mind-body connection to prepare you to have your own forest bathing experience on the Northwest Stream Center’s Nature Trail – a half-mile walk through dense forest, 3-feet above the forest floor and adjacent wetlands – a wonderful calming place to be.

After the Nature Walk, you will be welcomed back to the Visitor’s Building for a native plant tea tasting on the Streamwalk Plaza and invited to share your thoughts about this unique Forest Bathing experience.

For more information about this event and other Streamkeeper Academy events call 425-315-8592 or go to www.streamkeeper.org.
