ARLINGTON—Meet me in Arlington for Arlington’s Hometown Holidays celebration! The magic starts on November 30th in Legion Park, where Arlington’s Christmas Tree will be lit at 5 p.m. Lights will be twinkling and carolers will be singing, while visitors enjoy fire pits and roasting marshmallows with special guests, Mrs. Claus and Olaf. An unexpected snowfall will also surprise the kids, which makes the night even more magical. Our “Night of Lights,” a lighted car display, is always a hit with families, as they walk along main street enjoying an array of holiday decorations and activities.
New this year to Hometown Holidays, there will be a live nativity scene located at the Meet Me in Arlington Pop-Up shop, sponsored by Arlington Nativity Festival. Looking for Christmas gifts? Shop local with downtown merchants. Shoppers can join the charm bracelet walk and the shop the outdoor holiday market. End the evening with a free showing of a Christmas movie at the historic Olympic Theatre.
The City of Arlington also comes alive during Hometown Holidays by providing a free carousel and Ferris Wheel, making it a fun and unforgettable event for people of all ages. The rides are co-sponsored by the Angel of the Winds Resort Casino and made possible by funding from Arlington’s Hotel Motel Tax Grant.
On Saturday, December 7th, Hometown Holidays continues with the Santa Parade at noon! The magical parade on Main Street is Arlington’s way of welcoming Santa and all his helpers to town. Families are invited to the park gazebo to take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus. There will be a festive-sweater contest following the parade, so don’t forget to wear your best Christmas sweater!
Enjoy caroling and the performances on the park stage as you get into the holiday spirit and experience Arlington’s dining options, retail stores, and outdoor holiday market. Free tractor-wagon rides will available through town, as well as the Ferris wheel and seasonal carousel! Come celebrate your family’s holiday customs, meet me in Arlington.
