MARYSVILLE—Longtime community leader Larry Jubie will lead the 2024 Electric Lights Parade beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. The parade runs south on State Avenue from the Marysville Community Center to Comeford Park.
A Marysville resident since he and his wife, Linda, built their first home here more than 50 years ago, Jubie was selected for his dedicated volunteer service in our community.
“I really enjoy serving with so many dedicated people who are working to make our community a better place to live and work,” said Larry.
Among Jubie’s many volunteer contributions:
- A member of Marysville Rotary since 1995, Jubie appreciates Rotary’s humanitarian efforts both local and international; he has traveled with a local team to the mountains of Guatemala to build more than 30 schools over the past 25 years.
- Jubie was involved in helping the Marysville Family YMCA build its facility here and has served on the YMCA Board for 12 years.
- Board member of Providence General Hospital Foundation for more than 20 years.
- Volunteer for Marysville Community Food Bank for more than 20 years.
- Volunteer work with Housing Hope, Red Cross, City of Marysville, Marysville School District, Boys & Girls Club, and Boy Scouts.
You’re invited to enjoy Merrysville for the Holidays family-friendly events in Comeford Park between 4 and 8 p.m. Highlights include craft and food vendors, live music, photo opportunities and live reindeer; free train rides until 6 p.m. The grand tree lighting takes place after Santa and Mrs. Claus close out the parade at about 7 p.m., followed by Santa photos, magical ‘snow’ flurries and more fun in the park.
