LYNNWOOD—A twenty-four-year-old man is dead after a shed near Lynnwood caught fire this morning around 8:00 a.m. The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Snohomish County Fire Marshall.
South County Fire firefighters and officers working for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office responded to a house fire call around 8:04 a.m. on Larch Way in unincorporated Snohomish County near Lynnwood.
Upon arriving on scene just five minutes later, it was discovered that a 24-year-old man, who had appeared to have been living in the shed, had died. The official cause of death will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The identity and a description of the deceased has not been released at this time.
The fire was contained and extinguished by firefighters within five minutes of arrival. Despite the initial call reporting that the fire had spread to nearby trees fire fighters could not see any evidence of this, Christie Veley, Communications Director for South County Fire informed the Lynnwood Times.
There were no other injuries or damages.
Snohomish County Major Crimes Unit was initially called but declined to get involved after no indication of foul play was observed.
The Fire Marshall and Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office are still conducting an investigation on this matter and was unable to share any additional information at this time.
