Free post-holiday recycling & tree-cycling in Marysville Jan. 4

MARYSVILLE—After the holiday gifts are open, what do you do with all the cardboard boxes and Styrofoam? The City of Marysville is hosting a free post-holiday recycling collection from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at 1049 State Ave. in the south parking lot (former City Hall).

holiday recycling

Marysville Sunrise Rotary and other community partners will help Marysville residents recycle unwanted cardboard, clean Styrofoam, bubble wrap, foam peanuts and other packaging materials. That’s not all. Bring your natural Christmas tree for ‘tree-cycling’ into wood chips to spread in city parks and trails.

The event is free, with donations of nonperishable food and cash for the Marysville Community Food Bank gratefully accepted at the event or online at www.marysvillefoodbank.com.

What you can bring:

  • Clean Styrofoam (clean, dry, free of tape)
  • Packing peanuts (in bags or boxes)
  • Cardboard (please flatten boxes before arrival)
  • Clear bubble wrap
  • Clear plastic wrapping (clean and dry material only)
  • Real bare Christmas trees (remove lights, wire, tinsel and ornaments)

Thank you to our event partners: Everett Community College Environmental Action Club, Girl Scouts of Western Washington, Marysville Community Food Bank, Marysville Sunrise Rotary, Marysville United Methodist Church, Rotaract, Snohomish County and Vermeer Corporation.
