EVERETT—Just shortly after 9 a.m., Tuesday, January 7, Lynnwood Municipal Judge Valerie Bouffiou administered the oath of office to Dr. Julieta Altamirano-Crosby who was sworn in as District 2 Snohomish County Public Utility District Commissioner to a standing room only ceremony at the agency’s headquarters in Everett.
Commissioner Altamirano-Crosby recited: “I, Julieta Altamirano-Crosby, do solemnly swear or affirm that I will support the Constitution and Laws of the United States and the Constitution and Laws of the State of Washington. “And that I will faithfully, impartially and honestly perform and discharge the duties of the office of Public Utility District Number One Commissioner District 2, for a six-year term according to law to the best of my ability.”
Commissioner Altamirano-Crosby thanked the residents of Snohomish and Camano Island counties for electing her to office and shared it was an honor to now be working alongside Snohomish PUD CEO John Haarlow, and Commissioners Sid Logan and Tanya Olson.
“The World Bank says that roads are the arteries through which the world’s economies pulse. Here at Snohomish County PUD, we are that pulse providing electricity and water which are vital to life in our modern communities,” Commissioner Altamirano-Crosby said during her speech.
She concluded by thanking her husband Patrick Crosby, their daughter Daniela, and her mom who flew in from Mexico to attend the swearing in ceremony.
Outgoing commissioner Rebecca Wolfe attended the event and was recognized by Altamirano-Crosby for being her mentor as she transitions into her new role having resigned on January 6 from the duties of the Lynnwood City Council
In the 2024 General Election last November, with 53 percent of the County vote, Altamirano-Crosby secured the win to be the first Latina elected as Commissioner to the Snohomish County PUD.
Notable persons attending Tuesday’s swearing in ceremony were Lake Stevens Mayor Brett Gailey, Mount Vernon Councilwoman Iris Carias, former Lynnwood City Council President Shannon Sessions, members of Local North Puget Sound 425 Carpenters, Lynnwood Food Bank Executive Director Alissa Jones, and Strategies 360 CEO Ron Dotzauer.
