The Lynnwood Times is acknowledging the 2024 Political Trickster of the Year to Glen Morgan for convincing two other Bob Ferguson’s to run for Washington State Governor, not to the amusement of then-Attorney General Bob Ferguson.
Glen Morgan, a political conservative who has a knack for annoying elected Democrats and their progressive allies, cooked up the maneuver that immediately drew flak from the attorney general’s camp as an attempt to confuse voters.
One Bob Ferguson was from Yakima, one from Graham, and the other was the Washington State Attorney General who eventually won the Gubernatorial bid. All of the candidates were running as Democrats.
Now Washington State Governor Bob Ferguson did not find the move funny in the slightest, threatening legal action against the two other Bob’s if they refused to drop out of the race by May 13, 2024 — they eventually did.
Ferguson cited state law RCW 29A.84.320 dealing with duplicate, nonexistent and non-true names which has been a state of Washington law for the last 80 years — originally passing in 1943. The penalty for violating this state law is a class B felony resulting in a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. It is unclear what specifically about the law was violated.
Trickster Glen Morgan was recently awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Washington State Republican Party. He has been in staunch opposition to Ferguson’s campaign on his podcast We the Governed and on social media.
Morgan has been successful in exposing numerous Public Disclosure Campaign Finance and Ethics violations since 2016 and has won over 74 lawsuits. This includes lawsuits filed by the Washington State Attorney General resulting in 21 judgements based on Morgan’s reporting.
