Port of Edmonds Names David Preston as Commission President

EDMONDS—In January the Port of Edmonds Commission unanimously approved David Preston as President for 2025, Janelle Cass as Vice President, and Selena Killin as Secretary.

Preston has served on the Port of Edmonds Commission since 2011 and represents Port District 2. This will be his third year-long term as Commission President.

Steve Johnston and Jay Grant make up the remainder of the Port Commission.

The mission of the Port of Edmonds is to provide value to the community through economic development, marina and commercial operations, waterfront public access, and environmental stewardship.

The role of the Commission is to develop and adopt a budget and policies that support Port goals and oversee Executive Director Angela Harris who leads a staff of twenty-nine full-time employees.

A major focus for 2025 is to secure funding for marina infrastructure maintenance and major public access improvement projects.

About the Port of Edmonds

The Port of Edmonds is a municipal corporation, established in 1948 by popular vote. The port district includes the Town of Woodway and part of the City of Edmonds. The Port operates various commercial properties in downtown Edmonds and provides the only marina in the highly populated 30-mile stretch between Seattle’s Shilshole Bay and the Port of Everett.

The Port is governed by a five-member board of Commissioners. The Commissioners are elected by the voters of the Port District to serve four-year terms.
