LYNNWOOD—We are excited to announce that Jared Bond has been selected to lead the Public Works Department as its next Director. On Monday, March 10th, the Lynnwood City Council unanimously confirmed Mayor Frizzell’s nomination of Jared to assume the role of Director. He is taking over as Director from Bill Franz, who retired after 33 years of service to the City of Lynnwood last December.

Jared Bond began his career with the City of Lynnwood in 1998 and was hired as an Engineering Technician. From there, Jared was promoted many times to Project Manager, Supervisor, and Operations Manager, and finally served as one of two Deputy Directors for the past four years.
Throughout his career with Lynnwood, Jared has worked on some of the City’s most complex and technically challenging issues, including overseeing the Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade project and the operation and maintenance of our City’s vital infrastructure and helping to prepare the City for disaster by serving as the Emergency Operations Center Deputy Manager. Additional career achievements include the establishment of the City’s Fish Hatchery and Environmental Education Center and the creation of the City’s Tree Fund and Tree Voucher Program.
“Jared Bond is an inspiring leader; he cares deeply for his staff and this City, and he takes great pride in his work,” said Lynnwood Mayor Christine Frizzell. “His ability to lead, collaborate, communicate, and strategize will be a tremendous asset in his role as our next Director. I look forward to his leadership in this department’s next chapter.”
Jared holds a Bachelor’s in Environmental Policy and Planning and a Master’s in Public Administration. He also holds a Water Distribution Manager Level 4 certification, the highest level required for someone in the City to operate a water utility.
Jared is an avid long-distance road cyclist and has been his entire life, having ridden all over the world. His wife, two daughters, and energetic Brittany are proud to have called Lynnwood home for the last 17 years. They love camping in their travel trailer, and exploring the treasure that is our National Parks. He takes great honor in living and raising his family in Lynnwood.
“Lynnwood’s infrastructure is the pillar upon which the quality of life in this City is built, and it is the duty of the Public Works Department to build and maintain it,” said Director Jared Bond. “This is a responsibility that I and my staff take very seriously. As your Public Works Director, I will lead our department with integrity, honesty, and transparency and continue to ensure that Lynnwood is a recognized regional leader for all the services we provide.”
