Foundation for Edmonds Schools raises $288,000 towards student success

The Foundation for Edmonds School District raised $288,000 of their $330,000 goal during its annual A Recipe for Success! breakfast fundraiser on February 28, 2025. The event drew more than 300 local civic and business leaders, district staff, and community supporters to the Embassy Suites in Lynnwood.

Funds raised by the event will be used to provide a wide range of programs, including post-secondary scholarships, classroom and schoolwide grants for innovative teaching ideas, school supplies, and test fees. Importantly, funds will provide financial and nutritional support to children and families who are facing financial instability, persistent poverty, and homelessness.

Guests heard from Mya Phin, a senior at Mountlake Terrace High School who also performed “Misty” by Ella Fitzgerald. She was joined by guitarist and fellow classmate, Justin Ho.

In a typical year, the Foundation serves roughly 8,000 students across the Edmonds School District struggling with underemployment and poverty, with more than 650 children facing homelessness. Last year the Foundation provided $282,237 across 108 scholarships to graduating seniors and served and thanks to generous donations by Costco and Rick Steves Europe 1,346 students were provided with backpacks and school supplies.

The Nourishing Network pop up pantries served 375 families each month with culturally relevant, healthy, and fresh food and the program’s meal programs served thousands each week.

For 40 years, the Foundation for Edmonds School District has worked in partnership with the Edmonds School District to ensure that every student has the resources to learn, thrive and contribute to our vibrant community. With an all-volunteer board and active community participants, the Foundation provides supplemental funding to support students, families, and educators in the pursuit of educational excellence.

The Edmonds School District is Snohomish County’s largest public school district, serving 21,000 students across 35 campuses. Boundaries span five communities including Lynnwood, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace, Brier and part of Bothell.
