SNOHOMISH COUNTY—In a significant move to help address the growing mental health needs in North Puget Sound, Providence Swedish recently expanded its Behavioral Health services in Everett and Edmonds to enhance related care for Snohomish County residents.

This month, two new facilities have opened to provide much-needed support to the community. They include:
- Providence Swedish Everett – The new Pacific Campus space – now located at 916 Pacific Ave., Everett – offers a five-days-a-week partial hospitalization group therapy program. This addition complements Providence Swedish Everett’s existing inpatient Behavioral Health services and the Behavioral Health Urgent Care clinic at the Colby Campus.
- Providence Swedish Edmonds – All outpatient Behavioral Health services have been consolidated under one roof at 20701 76th Ave. W, Suite 200, Edmonds. This move provides a more convenient, accessible option for patients. The new space can now accommodate up to 30 patients at a time, compared to just 12 in the old facility.
These new and enhanced care spaces allow Providence Swedish to provide more mental health services, reduce isolation, and build a supportive community for those in need.
Centralized services at Providence Swedish Edmonds boost patient care
The new space at Providence Swedish Edmonds offers a five-days-a-week partial hospitalization group therapy program, as well as a three-days-a-week intensive outpatient group therapy program. This project was made possible by philanthropic support from the Providence Swedish Edmonds community.
Providence Swedish Everett offers new group therapy programs
Providence Swedish Everett’s new Pacific Campus space offers a five-days-a-week partial hospitalization group therapy program. This new program augments Providence Swedish Everett’s inpatient Behavioral Health services and the Behavioral Health Urgent Care clinic at the Colby Campus. Later this year, Providence Swedish Everett Behavioral Health will begin offering a three-days-a-week intensive outpatient group therapy program as well.
In an environment of uncertain federal funding for critical community resources, the health system is especially grateful that the Providence Swedish Everett project is 100% funded through the Providence Well-Being Trust and Providence General Foundation, from individual donors, as well as grants from the Raynier Institute & Foundation, M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, Waterman Medical Foundation and Norcliffe Foundation.
About partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services
Partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs are a step down from inpatient care and provide flexibility to patients who need more support than routine outpatient therapy can provide. These group-therapy programs help expand access and provide treatment plans that accommodate the diverse needs of our community.
The programs provide tools and training for patients learning to manage day-to-day stressors and mental health concerns. The group-therapy model supports patients by decreasing isolation and building comradery with others who may be facing similar challenges. Upon completing the program, a graduated patient from the partial hospitalization program said, “I am not fully healed, but I feel able to take the next steps to take care of myself.”
These programs are appropriate for individuals who are:
- 18 or older
- Continuing to have symptoms that require more support than is possible in traditional outpatient settings
- Not in imminent danger to themselves or others
- Having difficulties maintaining baseline functioning, such as needing to take time off from work or school due to isolation, ruminating thoughts or low motivation
- Willing and able to participate in intensive, group-based psychotherapy
The outpatient treatment team consists of psychiatrists, advanced registered nurse practitioners (ARNPs), social workers, and licensed mental health counselors. Medication management is available, as needed.

I just finished this PHP program. It’s very helpful and worth it. For many, it’s a literal life saver.
