LYNNWOOD—Edmonds College has renamed several of its academic divisions to better align with industry standards to enhance marketability and recognition for graduates, the College said.

“Edmonds College has always been a place of progress, and we strongly believe in staying relevant,” said Dr. Amit B. Singh, President of Edmonds College. “We changed the name of the college in 2020 to reflect the scope of programs we offer. These changes show our growth and commitment to being educational leaders.”
The name changes went into effect on April 1, renaming six separate academic divisions including Science, Technology, and Math Division (now named School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), Health and Human Services Division (now named School of Healthcare and Human Services), Humanities and Social Sciences Divisions (now named School of Humanities and Social Sciences), International Division (now named School of English Language Studies), Pre-College Division (now named School of Academic Foundations), and the Business Division (now named School of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Education).
The School of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math’s mission is to provide learning opportunities through innovative science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs, lab experiences, and coursework that allows students to acquire STEM knowledge, skills, and the ability to think collaboratively and critically to prepare them for career pathways.
The School of Healthcare and Human Services at Edmonds College aims to prepare students for careers which address educational, health, community services, and human services within the community. The school offers degrees or transfer credits to a four-year college as well as a certificate program.
The School of Humanities and Social Sciences deals with anthropology, art, communications, music, English, journalism, philosophy, photography, history, geography, and more to either act as a baseline for transferring to a four-year college or simply to train students to act as thoughtful members of society.
The School of English Language Studies offers programs and services that provide education and training to increase the abilities of individuals to be effective in intercultural settings and to increase their awareness and understanding of cultural factors in human interactions.
The School of Academic Foundations educates students on how to obtain a High School level GED, or simply prep for college-level classes.
And lastly the School of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Education offers programs that help students get started in careers in business, either through transfer credits to a four-year university, certification programs, or assisting in building a resume to hit the ground running.
