Port of Everett’s New Marina Fuel Dock Now Open

EVERETT—The new Port of Everett Marina Fuel Dock is now open and operational after an $8.1-million marina capital investment project to replace and realign the former aging fuel dock. The new fuel dock is better able to serve the region’s boating community, and national defense and local emergency response partners.

The new, 500-foot fuel dock project included upgrades to enhance the visitor experience and protect the environment, serving not only the needs of recreational and commercial boaters, but also those of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, City of Everett Police and Fire Departments, Snohomish County Sheriff, tribal partners and more.

In honor of National Marina Day, the public is invited to join the Port of Everett and project partners at a dedication ceremony for the new fuel dock on June 12 at 4 p.m. on the esplanade next to Central Docks, Gate A. Check here for event details.

“We are excited that the new fuel dock is now complete,” said Jeff Lindhout, Port of Everett’s Chief of Marina Operations. “As the largest public marina on the West Coast, we serve thousands of boaters each year, and we are proud to offer them the best experience we can. This project required careful planning and coordination with multiple stakeholders, and I want to thank our team and local partners for their patience as we made this major upgrade.”

The fuel dock project was funded, in part, by a grant from the Department of Defense (DoD). Due to the fuel dock’s regional importance in support of DoD assets, the Port was awarded $5.3 million in grant funding from the DoD’s Office of Local Defense Community Cooperation to help offset the cost of the project.

The new, 500-foot fuel dock features two additional fuel dispenser nozzles, an ultra-high flow fuel station, a fuel attendant building, a concessions and ice building, and a fully equipped single-stall restroom — making the Port of Everett Marina an efficient and convenient stop for any boating adventure.

In addition to standard pumpouts, the project added a commercial pumpout station. This commercial pumpout station is one of the only publicly accessible commercial pumpout stations in Puget Sound – an example of the Port’s dedication to keeping our waterways clean.

This marina capital project is part of the Port’s ongoing commitment to providing top-tier facilities for all members of the boating community.

The Port of Everett has invested over $165 million in Marina upgrades over the past 20 years. Built in phases over 50 years, the Marina is being modernized through a strategic approach that addresses aging infrastructure and growing demand in phases.

“The completion of our new marina fuel dock is a major milestone in our plan to build out a world-class marina,” said Tom Stiger, Port of Everett Commission Vice President. “This modern facility enhances the boating experience for all who use our Marina – whether they are recreational boaters, commercial businesses, or our emergency and national defense partners.”

Fuel dock replacement was completed in two phases. Phase one began in 2023 with the installation of two 30,000-gallon fuel tanks for gasoline and for diesel. The new tanks increased fuel capacity in response to a growing need.

The second phase began in summer 2024 when Port contractor American Construction Company demolished two docks in the Central Marina to make way for the new facility. American Construction Company, and its subcontractors Bellingham Marine, Service Electric, and TRICO, rebuilt the fuel dock just east of its former position to accommodate the strong currents that proved challenging for boaters in its previous location. The Port worked with its contractor to ensure continuity of service during the transition.

The former fuel dock is being refurbished to serve as additional guest moorage to meet growing visitor demand. The Port will add vending options and signage to the new dock soon.
