The man who snatched a hat from tennis star Kamil Majchrzak intended for a child named Brock at the US Open on live TV has been identified as millionaire Piotr Szczerek, co-founder and CEO of the Polish paving and landscaping company Drogbruk.
Majchrzak found the young boy who had a hat snatched and gave him a hat and gear.
Feeds on Reddit point to a post, posted at 3:26 p.m., August 30, 2025, on the Polish job search site Gowork which allege that it is from Piotr where he admits to taking the hat and that it is a life lesson for Brock writing, “In life there is a rule: first come, first served” and “If you were faster – you would have it.”

The post’s author, allegedly Piotr, then threatens legal action against critics stating: “I would like to remind you that insulting a public figure is subject to legal liability. Any offensive comments, slander and insinuations will be analyzed in terms of the possibility of taking the case to court.”

The alleged 3:26 p.m., August 30, post from Piotr has literally gone viral around the world with tens of millions of views. However, the immediate online sensation into unchecked “confirmation bias” may now be a very public lesson when it comes to “trends” on social media.
Just hours later, on the same Gowork platform, at 11:05 p.m., a post allegedly by Piotr’s wife Anna Szczerek wrote that her husband, “took his own life” over the incident.

Then minutes later at 11:44 p.m., on the same Gowork platform, a second message allegedly from Piotr is posted expressing “remorse” for his actions and “a desire to make amends.”

In the alleged second statement from Piotr, he wrote: “I deserve every insulting comment and I ask for a second chance. For forgiveness, if it is ever possible. I am writing this with tears in my eyes and trembling hands. I will do anything to repay my debt to this poor boy and to society. To clear the name, not only of mine, but also of my homeland, Poland.”
From these three alleged posts on a platform that can be used by any unconfirmed person, allegedly from the Szczerek’s, and with no official statement from Piotr, the Lynnwood Times at this point is debunking the original viral response by Piotr as a fake at this time unless other evidence presents itself in the future.

Tennis star Kamil Majchrzak who intended for the child, Brock, to receive his hat at the US Open, has now come forward to say that Piotr reached out to him for the child’s contact information “to make things right,” according to the NY Post. Majchrzak provided Piotr the information he requested.
“So, maybe he can make things right himself,” Majchrzak said according to NY Post adding that Anna and Piotr Szczerek sponsor the tennis federation in Poland.
Spanish outlet MARCA reported that Piotr’s social media accounts are now deactivated in the wake of the incident.

Is he really sorry the piece of 💩 or is he sorry he got caught doing what he did.. who would do that to a kid?
great
He’s not sorry. He’s sorry that he got caught red-handed. Never underestimate the power of the people. Otherwise, he would still be saying that he was faster than the child. He should be ashamed of himself! If I had a business running with this individual, I would stop it immediately.
Piotr Szczerek
Has shown true color.
If anyone thought he was any different, I’m sorry that you got duped.
“My husband took his own life”? These 2 sincerely have mental issues. I hope Mr. CEOs business drops off to teach HIM a lesson.
What a jerk. He’s only sorry because he’s afraid it will affect his business. What a terrible human being with no morals.
