Verdant boosts 2026 funding to $6.5 million, supporting 43 partners

LYNNWOOD—At its September 24 public board meeting, Verdant Health Commissioners approved $6.5 million in funding for 43 community partners focused on enhancing the health and well-being of South Snohomish County residents. To address heightened community needs due to reduced federal funding for health programs, the Commissioners allocated an additional $500,000 beyond the initial budget.

Of the total, $5.25 million will support partners tackling Verdant’s 2025-2028 strategic priorities: mental health for children, adolescents, and young adults, and access to direct healthcare services. The remaining $1.25 million will fund initiatives addressing food security, domestic violence services, and support for individuals experiencing homelessness.

“We are pleased to invest in these organizations to improve the health and well-being of all South Snohomish County residents. Given the increased demand for community programs and services we have seen this year, Commissioners felt compelled to award more than we originally planned. Child, adolescent and young adult mental health services, direct healthcare services and food security programs are greatly needed in our community,” said Karianna Wilson, Board President.

Since 2011, Verdant has awarded more than $93.5 million in funding to over 150 unique recipients throughout South Snohomish County.
