Edmonds Planning Board seeks new Alternate Member

EDMONDS- The City of Edmonds is seeking a resident interested in participating as a member of the Edmonds Planning Board. The Planning Board serves as an advisory board to the City Council on rezones, comprehensive planning, Community Development Code amendments, and other land use issues.

The Planning Board meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month in the Brackett Room at City Hall. Volunteer board members serve for a four-year term and are eligible for re-appointment to a second four-year term. The term of this open alternate position ends December 31, 2025.

The person appointed to this position will have the opportunity to request an appointment for a subsequent four-year term. The alternate member attends all Board meetings, taking part in discussions and serving as a regular voting member when one of the regular seven members is absent.

About the Edmonds Planning Board

The Planning Board serves in an advisory capacity to the City in regional and local planning, and assists in the development of the comprehensive plan and zoning ordinances. The board also advises the Mayor and City Council on the acquisition and development of all city parks and recreation facilities.

Board members are appointed by the Mayor with Council confirmation. Terms are for four years with no term limits. Terms less than two years are not considered full terms. Edmonds residency is required on all Planning Board positions.

The Planning Board is scheduled to meet the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 7 p.m. in the Brackett Room, 3rd Floor of City Hall at 121 5th Ave N. (Planning Board Meetings are now Hybrid in-person/remote Zoom and subject to change – please check the meeting calendar.)
