Join Snohomish County Public Works in celebrating the replacement of Jordan Creek Bridge 214 along Jordan Road between Arlington and Granite Falls. The new structure meets current design standards and restores two-lane access to better accommodate motorists, commercial vehicles, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

Currently the bridge is open in a one lane configuration while final work is being completed. Construction for the project began in late April and is expected to finish by early November at which time both travel lanes will be open. Snohomish County Public Works, Interwest Construction Inc., and partners worked to replace the old bridge, which had been reduced to a single lane with weight restrictions in June 2019.
“The aging timber bridge was not designed for modern traffic loads and required frequent maintenance,” County Engineer Doug McCormick explained. “I’m proud of our work to build a larger structure that will meet current and future traffic needs while making enhancements for fish and other wildlife.”
The replacement bridge is a 120-foot-long single span concrete girder bridge with two 11-foot-wide lanes and six-foot shoulders. A full road closure reduced the total construction period and cost of the project. “Closing a road is never easy. The patience of nearby community members is greatly appreciated,” McCormick added.
Funding for the $8 million project was made possible by a federal grant issued through the Local Bridge Program.
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
The event will feature a short ceremony highlighting the new bridge with additional recognition of preventative maintenance work on Red Bridge 537, completed by Snohomish County Public Works, Combined Construction Inc., and partners. Improvements to the historic bridge on Mountain Loop Highway were funded by the Federal Highways Bridge Program and the Snohomish County Road Fund.
