OLYMPIA –Washington State Governor Bob Ferguson appointed Brian Bennett as Director of Washington State Lottery on Tuesday, November 18.

“Brian’s extensive and diverse leadership experience makes him well-suited for this role,” said Governor Ferguson. “As director of Washington’s Lottery, he will help deliver an excellent experience for players and generate revenue that funds critical services in Washington.”
Bennett is a former Burien Mayor and City Council member who has worked at the global technology company F5 Inc. for 16 years. F5 is a technology company that provides a multicloud application security and delivery platform in order to help organizations secure and optimize their applications and API, it says.
AT F5, Inc. Bennet served as Video President of the company’s legal department where he managed a team that supported sales and operations. Prior to this role, Bennet practiced law in Seattle, working with clients on technology, government, immigration and health care issues.
“I’m really excited to return to public service with the State of Washington as the director of the Washington Lottery,” said Bennett. “I hope that my experience in public and private enterprises will be helpful to the Lottery’s continued success.”
Early in Bennett’s career he worked as a legislative assistant in the Washington State Senate before serving on the Burian City Council for four years – including two years chairing the council as Mayr and one year as Deputy Mayor.
Bennett holds a degree in comparative literature from the University of Washington and obtained his law degree from New York University.
Outside of work, Bennett volunteers for the Ukrainian Association of Washington State, supporting Ukraine and Ukrainian refugees in Washington. Previously, Bennett chaired the Burien Shoreline Advisory Committee and served on Burien’s Planning Commission. He also worked for a nonprofit environmental law firm in Ukraine and spent a year teaching English in Moscow, Russia.
