Snohomish County Council appoints Judge Jennifer Millett to District Court

EVERETT—The Snohomish County Council appointed Judge Jennifer Millett, on December 15, to the District Court Bench filling the vacancy left by Judge Tam Bui who won election to the Washington State Court of Appeals, Division I, District 2.

“I am pleased that Jennifer Millett will continue serving Snohomish County in her new role as Everett District Court Judge. She brings the experience, judgement, and temperament necessary to provide fair and impartial justice for our community,” said Council Chair Nate Nehring.

“I was proud to join in the unanimous vote to appoint Jennifer Millett to fill the vacancy because her values and professional history reflect a deep commitment to fairness, empathy, and respect for the criminal and civil justice system,” said Council Vice Chair Megan Dunn. “I am confident that she will continue to serve our District Court and community well.”

Effective January 1st, 2026, Judge Millett will serve in this position until the general election in November of 2026 when there will be an election to fill the full term.

“I would like to thank the Snohomish County Council for their vote of confidence in my appointment as Snohomish County District Court Judge – Everett Division and I am honored to continue serving the citizens of Snohomish County,” said Judge Millett.

“We were grateful to have our candidates in for interviews with us today, and I thank them for their time and dedication to the process,” added Councilmember Sam Low. “Jennifer Millett will be an invaluable addition to the bench for this special term.”

Prior to her appointment as a judge, Millett served as a Court Commissioner in the Snohomish County District Court, a role she assumed in January 2023.

Millett brings extensive experience as a prosecutor, having served in the City of Marysville Prosecutor’s Office since 2008. She was a founding member of the Marysville Mental Health Alternatives therapeutic court, focused on supporting chronic offenders facing mental health challenges. Earlier in her career, she worked in the Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office after beginning as a law clerk in Snohomish County Superior Court. She also served as a judge pro tempore in multiple jurisdictions.
