Community Call-to-Action: Donate now at Stuff the Bus for Historic Flood Relief

SNOHOMISH—In the aftermath of historic flooding that shattered river records and displaced families across Snohomish County, Volunteers of America Western Washington is teaming up with Community Transit and Snohomish County to host a “Stuff the Bus” donation drive this Saturday.

The event, set for December 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Snohomish Station Shopping Center on Bickford Avenue, aims to collect essential items for those grappling with sudden losses from the relentless storms that struck earlier this month.

Volunteers will be positioned outside Fred Meyer, handing out flyers detailing the most needed donations and accepting contributions. Items from anywhere in the shopping plaza or beyond are encouraged, provided they are new.

Priorities include unwrapped Christmas gifts for children, gift cards to grocery, hardware, gas, and outlet stores, warm clothing like socks, gloves, and hats, hygiene products and toiletries, and blankets.

“This historic level of flooding has left many of our neighbors facing immediate and unexpected needs,” said Kristi Myers, chief operations officer at Volunteers of America Western Washington.

Myers is grateful for partnerships with Community Transit, Snohomish County, Fred Meyer, and the shopping center’s management, noting the event offers a straightforward way for residents to help restore stability and dignity.

Beyond dropping off items, the public can volunteer during two three-hour shifts, with about 12 helpers needed each. Sign-ups are available online, and additional opportunities to sort donations will follow on December 22 in Arlington.

Monetary contributions are also welcomed through Volunteers of America Western Washington or the American Red Cross to bolster wider relief efforts. Donations to VOAWW can be made at: https://bit.ly/donate-snohomish
