Carmen Goers Announces Run for the 47th State Senate Seat

AUBURNโ€”Carmen Goers, commercial banker and recipient of the 2022 Kent Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year Award and 2021 King County Council MLK Medal of Distinguished Service Award announced her campaign for the Washington State Senate in the 47th Legislative District, bringing a neighbor-first, community-rooted approach to Olympia.

Goers isn’t the kind of politician who only appears during election season. She’s the grandparent enthusiastically cheering for kids at local games, the dedicated volunteer at community events, and the familiar neighbor you bump into at the grocery store. Goers has been deeply engaged in the 47th District for years, not just discussing issues, but actively partnering with families, small businesses, and local leaders to address and resolve them.

โ€œIโ€™m running because this community deserves a Senator who listens, shows up, and fights for the people who live here,โ€ Goers said. โ€œThe 47th District is my home. These are my neighbors, my friends, and my family. I want to be a strong, steady voice for them in Olympia.โ€

Goers’ campaign centers on affordability, education, and protecting local jobs. These are the issues she knows working families across the district face every day. Drawing from real-world experience and a practical approach, she’s dedicated to advancing common-sense solutions that prioritize people over politics.

โ€œAs a community, we donโ€™t need more headlines, we need results,โ€ Goers added. โ€œI will bring our values to the Washington State Senate and stand up for the people who make this district strong.โ€

The 47th Legislative District includes parts of Kent, Auburn, and surrounding communities, representing one of the most diverse and dynamic regions in Washington state. Goers says her campaign will remain grounded in the district, focused on listening tours, neighborhood conversations, and meeting voters where they are.

โ€œIโ€™m not running to be someone important,โ€ Goers said. โ€œIโ€™m running to do important work for my neighbors.โ€
