This year’s distribution took place in Dos Caminos, a community of approximately 2,000 residents, where 300 families received prepared chicken dinners. The event marked the first time the initiative was held in Dos Caminos; during the previous two years, the distribution took place in Ocotito, Guerrero, where the parents of Julieta Altamirano‑Crosby reside.

Julieta Altamirano-Crosby—Former Lynnwood City Council Vice President and Snohomish County PUD Commissioner, and co-founder of WAGRO Foundation—was born and raised in Dos Caminos. This year’s distribution was held at her grandparents’ home, making the initiative deeply personal and symbolic. Returning to her hometown to serve families reflected a full-circle moment rooted in memory, responsibility, and service.

The chicken dinners were prepared in advance, allowing the day to focus on respectful and organized distribution. Julieta’s parents were present, along with extended family members, friends, and community volunteers who helped ensure the meals were delivered smoothly and with care. Throughout the afternoon, families and volunteers exchanged words of gratitude, reinforcing a strong sense of mutual respect and community connection.

WAGRO Foundation—whose name reflects its roots in Washington (WA) and Guerrero (GRO)—focuses its work on education, art, science, and health, while also responding to urgent needs affecting vulnerable populations. Founded by Dr. Julieta Altamirano-Crosby and her husband, Patrick Crosby, the organization recognizes that food security is foundational to learning, physical health, and overall well-being.
