EVERETT—The Community Transit Board of Directors unanimously approved purchase of the Goodwill property, located at 2208 West Casino Road adjacent to the Cascade Administration Building, valued at $25,350,000. The agreement includes a 24-month seller lease-back of $120,000/mo.

“This is smart move,” Mukilteo Mayor Joe Marine said. “It is something we are going to need in the future. We are getting it now to hold it and we are getting a pretty good return on investment (ROI) as we hold it, so it is a win-win.”
The property was listed for sale in September 2025 and given its proximity to the adjacent Cascade Administration Building and its strategic value for long-term planning, Community Transit staff initiated a review of the parcel for potential acquisition.
On November 6, 2025, the Board of Directors approved entering into a Purchase and Sales Agreement, and on January 7, 2026, the Board approved a budget amendment to provide the necessary funding should agreement be reached and the sale approved by the Board.

With a motion my Mayor Marine, seconded by Snohomish Councilman Tom Merrill on Thursday, February 5, the Community Transit Board of Directors unanimously approved the purchase. The 7.55-acre property includes a physical warehouse of 107,999 square feet.
Mobile Access Routers
The Board also unanimously approved the authorization of the CEO Ric Ilgenfritz to award CompuNet a $1.14 million contract for Mobile Access Routers (MARs). The motion was made by Merrill and seconded by Marine. This purchase will replace the MARS and antennas that are at the end of their useful life.
Community Transit uses MARS installed on coaches and supervisor vehicles to provide critical life-safety cellular voice and data communications with coach operators and Dispatch. The MAR also provides data communications for payment taps at on-board validators and security camera video.
Additionally, MARs are installed at Swift stations to provide data communications for customer information, payment taps at Swift stations, and security camera video.
There are 564 MAR devices in service purchased prior to 2017 which are at the end of life. Preliminary testing with the latest 5G model has demonstrated significantly improved communications, providing better coverage and support for live-streaming security camera video.
2026 Board of Directors Election
The Community Transit Board elected Mukilteo Mayor Joe Marine as Chair, Mountlake Terrace Councilwoman Kyoko Matsumoto Wright as Vice Chair, and Marysville Mayor Jon Nehring as Secretary.
The officer position of Secretary was originally a tie (4-4) between Snohomish County Councilwoman Megan Dunn and Mayor Nering, but Councilwoman Dunn graciously voted for Mayor Nehring in the second round of votes, giving him the win.
