Chris Elder, a 20-year U.S. Navy veteran who served in naval aviation and a longtime Snohomish County resident, on Thursday announced his candidacy for State Representative in Washington’s 44th Legislative District against incumbent Rep. Brandy Donaghy.

Below is the press release by the Chris Elder campaign in its entirety:
Running to represent the hardworking families of his district, Elder brings proven leadership, business experience, and a deep commitment to putting people first in Olympia.
A dedicated family man, Chris and his wife of more than 20 years are raising their two children in the Pacific Northwest. Together they enjoy running a small farm, and boarding horses. As a small business owner, licensed real estate professional, and active community volunteer, Elder understands the real-world challenges facing residents, including rising costs, government spending, and concerns around public safety and economic opportunity.
“Washington is blessed with incredible resources, thriving industries like tech and aerospace, and tremendous potential for family-wage jobs and small businesses,” Elder said. “But layering tax after tax, excessive spending, and overregulation from Olympia are hurting families, driving businesses away, and making opportunity to thrive harder for the next generation to achieve.”
Chris Elder pledges to work to cut wasteful spending instead of raising taxes, keep more money in Washingtonians’ pockets, support safer neighborhoods, hold government accountable, and champion policies that create jobs and support strong families.
With his Navy-honed leadership and business experience, Elder will advocate for accountable spending, lower taxes, safer communities through strong law enforcement and crime prevention, quality education, and support for family resources.
“No one knows better how to spend your hard-earned money than you do,” he said. “I will bring a practical, people-first perspective to Olympia and work toward solutions that reflect the needs of the 44th Legislative District and Snohomish County.”
Elder invites voters to learn more and join his campaign for a stronger, more accountable future.
