Community Transit announces ‘Design Together, Discover Together’ youth art contest winners

EVERETT—Community Transit revealed the winners of its ‘Design Together, Discover Together’ youth art contest Thursday, March 26. The winners (ages 5-18) were awarded a gift card and will have their artwork displayed on Community Transit buses throughout the county.

The theme of the contest was what “Riding Transit with Friends” means to you. The contest was open from October 6, 2025, through October 20, 2025, and was open to any, and all, youth artists aged 5-18 so long as they were a Snohomish County resident.

The three first place winners received a $100 gift card, the three second place winners received a $75 gift card, and the three third place winners received a $50 gift card.

Community Transit Artist Contest K-4 Winners

Coming in first place in the K-4 category was third grader Elaine L..

First place winner Elaine L. said she was “excited” and “surprised” when she heard that she won first place.

“I did the double tall bus because it could fit more people in it,” said Elaine L.

Second grader Ellie S. got second place, and fourth grader Clark A. got third place.

Community Transit Artist Contest Grade 5-8 winners

In the grade 5-8 category, fifth grader Brooklyn L. got first place, while eighth grader Cassiopeia G. got second place, and fifth grader Hansel N. took third.

“I was really surprised [when I heard I won] because I just entered it for fun. I spent a little time on it, working on it, and drawing it. I was very happy when I won because I worked really hard on it and it was fun to get the news that I won,” said first grader Brooklyn N.

Brooklyn was thinking about diversity and “different shapes of bodies and people” in abstract forms, when going about her artwork, she shared. She used acrylic markers for color. She intentionally made the work colorful to represent a variety, and diversity, of different colored, and shaped, people.

She continued that she plans to submit more of her artwork in more contests in the future.

And lastly, 11th grader Miray M. took first place in the 9-12 grade category, with 12th grader Lizeth M. taking second, and 10th grader Kaelyn C. taking third.
