LAKE STEVENS—After Tuesday’s announcement from Representative Carolyn Eslick (R-Sultan) that she is not running for reelection, former Lake Stevens City Council Member Steve Ewing said he will run for the now open seat for the 39th LD and has the endorsements of Reps. “Our community needs strong voices in Olympia because the state government isn’t meeting basic standards. Public safety, public schools, public roadways, all the core functions of state government are falling behind or even failing—while taxes have never been higher. It’s time to return our state to normal.,” said Ewing.

Ewing announced his campaign shortly after Rep. Eslick said she was retiring and would not run for re-election.

Eslick endorsed Ewing saying, “Steve has an impressive resume serving the people of our state. I am happy to endorse and recommend him to the voters of the 39th District.”

Ewing very quickly secured endorsements from other community leaders, including Rep. Sam Low, Senator Keith Waggoner, Snohomish County Council Member Nate Nehring, Mayor of Lake Stevens Brett Gailey, Mayor of Marysville Jon Nehring, and Sultan Mayor Russell Wiita. “I’m grateful for the support from so many people in our community,” said Ewing.
