EASC Coffee Chat on County’s new Climate Resiliency Plan draft to commence on April 7

EVERETT — Economic Alliance Snohomish County (EASC) will host an upcoming Coffee Chats session titled, Preparing for What’s Next — Snohomish County’s Communitywide Climate Resiliency Plan, offering regional leaders, employers and community partners an opportunity to learn about Snohomish County’s draft climate resiliency strategy and its role in regional planning efforts.

Climate Resiliency

Snohomish County has developed a draft Communitywide Climate Resiliency Plan outlining strategies to help communities prepare for climate-related impacts such as flooding, extreme heat and infrastructure strain. The Coffee Chats discussion will provide a timely overview of the plan, including its structure, priorities and the role of regional collaboration in long-term resilience planning.

“As our region continues to grow, it’s important that we create opportunities for employers, community partners, and local leaders to understand the planning efforts that shape our long-term economic resilience,” says Ray Stephanson, President & CEO of Economic Alliance Snohomish County. “Coffee Chats provides a forum for thoughtful conversation and shared understanding around issues that affect infrastructure, workforce and the overall stability of our communities.”

As climate-related disruptions increasingly affect infrastructure systems, supply chains and community stability, coordinated planning across sectors is becoming an important component of regional economic resilience. This session will explore how the draft plan connects to infrastructure readiness, economic stability, and long-term regional planning efforts.

The conversation will feature:

  • Molly Beeman, Energy and Sustainability Manager, Snohomish County
  • Eileen Canola, Senior Planner, Snohomish County Planning & Development Services

Beeman and Canola will begin with a brief overview of the draft Communitywide Climate Resiliency Plan, highlighting key priorities, development process, and core focus areas. The session will then transition into a moderated discussion, where EASC will pose questions to further explore the plan’s implications for regional partners, employers and community stakeholders.

“The Communitywide Climate Resiliency Plan advances Snohomish County’s collaborative, science-based strategy that strengthens our communities against climate risks while supporting long-term economic and environmental sustainability,” says Molly Beeman, Snohomish County Office of Energy & Sustainability Manager. “The plan reflects the shared commitment of County residents, as well as local and regional partners to build a more resilient, prepared and equitable future.”

This session is designed for employers, planners, local leaders, and community partners seeking a clear, practical understanding of the County’s resiliency framework. Attendees will gain insight into how countywide planning efforts intersect with economic stability, infrastructure systems and long-term regional readiness through both the initial overview and guided discussion.

EASC’s Coffee Chats series convenes business, government, and community leaders for timely conversations on issues shaping Snohomish County’s economy and quality of life.
