The identities of the victims have not yet been made public, and the cause of the investigation is still under investigation.

The Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue (SRFR) responded to the fire around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, April 8, after multiple reports of a fire, with a large column of smoke visible from up to a mile away.

By the time Engine 33 arrived, the trailer was fully engulfed in flames, the fire agency said.

Battalion 71, Engine 71, Engine 77, Engine 72, and Battalion 31 arrived shortly after and, under Battalion 71’s command, the crews initiated a fire attack while identifying hazards – including a nearby propane tank on the south side of the structure and overhead, arching power lies to the north, according to the SRFR.

Due to the advanced fire conditions, crews were unable to safely enter the structure upon arrival and initiated a defensive exterior attack. Firefighters successfully prevented the fire from spreading to nearby brush and trees. With no hydrant available, crews deployed hose lines from four engines to extinguish the fire.

After the fire was extinguished, and conditions were deemed safe for entry, SRFR crews located two deceased victims inside, one near the front of the trailer and one toward the rear.

The Snohomish County Fire Marshall’s Office responded to the scene and is leading the investigation on the cause of the fire.

In a recent press release, the SRFR reminded residents of the importance of installing and maintaining working smoke alarms in all homes, including RVs and trailers. Smoke alarms should be installed in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the residence.

This is a working story.
