Upcoming Lynnwood City Council meeting for October 31

LYNNWOOD—For its Work Session at 6:00 p.m., Monday, October 31, the Lynnwood City Council will be presented with the 2023 to 2024 Public Works Preliminary Budget, review the 2023 to 2024 Revenue Review, and review the 2023 to 2024 Budget Calendar. The Work Session should take about two hours and forty-five minutes to cover its three agenda items.

Public Works Preliminary Budget Presentation

Public Works Director, Bill Franz, Deputy PW Director, Jared Bond, Deputy PW Director, Marcie MacQuarrie, and Deputy PW Director David Mach will lead council through a presentation on the Public Works Department’s 2023 to 2024 Preliminary Budget including Capitol Projects.

On January 24, 2022, the City Council passed Resolution #2022-02 that adopted the schedule for the 2023-2024 biennial budget. In accordance with that schedule, information will be presented for the Public Works Department, to include Capital Project Funds.

A review of the preliminary revenue and expenditure expectations for the General Fund was completed at the September 12, 2022, Business Meeting. A public hearing was conducted on September 26, 2022. A review of property taxes was provided at the October 3, 2022, meeting. The Mayor delivered her budget message along with the 2023-2024 Preliminary Budget document delivery on October 10, 2022.

The final public hearing on the budget will be held on November 14, 2022, with adoption scheduled for November 21, 2022. No action from council will be required tomorrow.

2023 to 2024 Budget Revenue Review

Michelle Myer, Finance Director, will then review, with council, the revenue assumptions included in the 2023 to 2024 Budget.

Review 2023 to 2024 Budget Calendar

Meyers will walk council through the 2023 to 2024 Budget Calendar. On January 24, 2022, the City Council passed Resolution #2022-02 that adopted the schedule for the 2023-2024 biennial budget – the current Budget Calendar.

In accordance with that schedule, a special meeting will be held on November 21, 2022, to adopt the budget unless Council identifies an alternative date. No action from council will be required at tomorrow’s meeting.
