BOTHELL, Wash., January 17, 2023—A man was struck and killed by a semi-truck after leaving his vehicle, which he crashed into a southbound 405 barrier Tuesday.
SECOND UPDATE: Southbound I-405 between I-5 in #Lynnwood & SR 527/Bothell-Everett Hwy in #Bothell remains closed.
The NB & SB I-5 off-ramps and the SB SR 525 off-ramp to SB I-405 are also closed.
This is due to a major collision. WSP investigating.

The collision took place around 4:00 a.m., the Washington State Patrol said, after the 41-year-old driver lost control of his vehicle, collided with a barrier just north of SR 527, and bounced back onto oncoming traffic. In total six vehicles then crashed into one another as a result.
The driver left his vehicle and was fatally struck by an oncoming semi truck.
All southbound lanes were closed for six hours while troopers investigated the scene and reopened around 11:30 a.m.
Washington State Patrol is investigation the incident. The driver was not believed to be impaired.

The driver was most assuredly impaired. He crashed his car and bounced back into traffic. The effect of that would definitely cause him to be impaired, on adrenaline if nothing else.
