I reset often in the month of March. Just when I think Spring is going to burst wide open, snow falls instead. Holding the tension of mindfulness of the moment while anticipating with glee the promise of warm sun and crocuses, is a wild wonder to grasp.
Then I look around. I notice the monk in my house, also known as The Dog. He sits in a patch of fleeting sunlight. I doubt in his canine brain he is considering much in the future except the next treat.
So, he sits.
Still.
He sniffs the cool air and observes what is directly in front of him.
With the week ahead, know the possibility of tomorrow’s surprises held in the wings while you bask in the moment at hand. Hold the space in between the inhale and exhale.
It is what we have.
Mindfulness is
“The awareness that arises through paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, non-judgmentally.” ~Jon Kabat-Zinn
“Mindfulness is simply the knack of noticing without comment whatever is happening in your present experience” ~ Guy Claxton
