Mukilteo DEI Commissioner Mike Dixon announces City Council bid

MUKILTEO, Wash., March 19, 2023โ€”I am pleased to announce my candidacy for Mukilteo City Council.ย  I am a 17 year resident of the city and, from 2012 – 2018 and 2022 – present, have served the city as an elected water and wastewater commissioner for our two special purpose entities serving Mukilteo:ย Alderwood WWDย andย Mukilteo WWD.ย  In that capacity, I have worked collaboratively as a member of and/or formally led these utility boards through their long term fiscal planning, comprehensive plan development, strategic plan development, bond issuance, rate setting and growth planning processes.ย

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Management Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1990, as well as a Master of Business Administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management in 1998.  Following a 30-year career in both the public and private sectors, in 2020, I opened my own small business here in Old Town and have been self-employed ever since.

I have also served our community in a variety of volunteer pursuits and am currently a volunteer member of the City of Mukilteoย DEI Commission.ย  I am committed to working with all members of our community on DEI, as I believe it is for our collective benefit as members of a civil society.ย  With children in our schools, I also have long been a passionate supporter of our schools and healthy extracurricular outlets for our youth.ย  Last, I’m a military veteran and proud Navy Dad, Brother and Uncle.ย

I decided to run to offer thoughtful, researched leadership to help address our collective issues in a non-partisan and mature way.  My experience as a utility commissioner taught me the value of planning, listening and collaborating for the long haul.  It is this depth of governance experience that I would like to bring to the council and hope to earn your support.

I will begin immediately reaching out to residents, employees, visitors, businesses, non-profit organizations and neighboring cities and regional partners to learn their concerns so I can be a good representative of our interests.  Please reach out to me at www.electMikeDixon.com/contact and I will be happy to talk with you.  I am committed to transparency, responsiveness and open lines of communication.
