SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash., May 18, 2023 – Working in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), Snohomish County Public Works will reopen Mountain Loop Highway between the Deer Creek and Barlow Pass gates at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Friday, May 19. The remaining 12-mile unpaved section of the roadway from Barlow Pass to Bedal Campground will remain closed until the USFS determines the route is safe for travel.
“Normally, Mountain Loop Highway remains closed through Memorial Day, so we are pleased to provide early access to this very popular outdoor destination ahead of schedule,” Public Works Director Kelly Snyder said. “We ask that visitors respect the remaining closure while enjoying the many recreational opportunities accessible along the west side of the highway.”
During summer weekends, more than 200 cars use this route daily to access the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest between Granite Falls and Darrington.
