School districts announce delays and cancellations for January 18

SNOHOMISH COUNTY—School districts across the Snohomish County have issued alerts of delays and cancellations for Thursday, January 18, 2024, due to inclement weather and icy road conditions.

The following school districts are closed for Thursday, January 18: Marysville, Monroe and Northshore. Routinely check the latest update for your school district by clicking the link associated with your school district below as other closures may take effect later in the day.

Arlington

Home – Arlington Public Schools (wednet.edu)

Due to hazardous road conditions, all schools will be starting two hours late tomorrow morning, Jan. 18. Buses will be operating on limited routes. There will be no out-of-district transportation, no Presidents Preschool, no zero period, and no Skills Center or Regional Apprenticeship Program. There will be no class meetings or services on-site for SVLC and APPLE/ECEAP due to a continued water disruption.

Edmonds

Home – Edmonds School District (wednet.edu)

All schools in the Edmonds School District will start 2 hours late, Thursday, January 18, due to current icy road conditions. Buses will arrive for student pick up 2 hours after the regular pick up time. The 2-hour delay also means no morning programs, no morning preschool nor Pre-K. Students will be dismiss at regular dismissal times.

Everett

Everett Public Schools (everettsd.org)

TWO HOURS LATE – BUSES ON SNOW ROUTES:  Thursday, January 18, all schools in Everett Public Schools, including full day ECEAP, will start two hours late due to weather conditions. There will be no A.M. Developmental Preschool or A.M. ECEAP Preschool. Buses will run on snow routes (www.everettsd.org/snowroutes) and there will be no out-of-district transportation. Granite Falls

Granite Falls School District 332 / Homepage (wednet.edu)

Due to icy road conditions, all schools will run two hours late on Thursday, January 18, 2024, with all buses on snow routes and no out-of-district transportation. AM/PM ECEAP is canceled. All-day ECEAP will follow a two-hour late start schedule. Morning developmental preschool is canceled. Afternoon Developmental Preschool will be held as normal.

Check the transportation page on the district website for updated snow route information. The district will reassess the roads in a couple of hours and send out communication if there are any updates to share with you.

Lake Stevens

Home – Lake Stevens School District (wednet.edu)

Two hour delay today: Schools will start two hours late today, Thursday, Jan. 18, due to snow and icy conditions throughout Lake Stevens. We will continue to monitor weather and road conditions and will share updates as needed.

  • No a.m. preschool at the Early Learning Center.
  • Buses are on snow routes throughout the district in the morning and the afternoon.
  • No out-of-district transportation.
  • No morning Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center.

Marysville

Closed, AM buses on snow routes. Schools closed. All after-school activities, including meetings, events, and activities, are canceled, including all athletic events, practices, the pool, the 21st Century Program, and scheduled facility rentals. Stay safe and warm. More Info Here UPDATE

Monroe

Home – Monroe School District (wednet.edu)

School Closed – January 18th: Due to hazardous road conditions caused by ice, all schools will be closed today, January 18, 2024. In the interest of safety, there will be no out-of-district transportation, and all scheduled events and activities are also canceled.

Mukilteo

Mukilteo SD 6 / Homepage (mukilteoschools.org)

SCHOOLS DELAYED 2 HOURS, BUSES ON SNOW ROUTES: Mukilteo School District schools will begin two hours late today because of hazardous conditions. School buses will operate on limited transportation routes. There will be no out of district transportation.

Alternative route pick-up and drop-off locations are on the district transportation website.

The late opening of school also means that morning preschool classes have been canceled, zero-period classes have been canceled, morning classes at Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center have been canceled and that ECEAP classes have been canceled.

Afternoon and evening events and activities may be held as scheduled if conditions improve today. Information about the status of those events will be announced later today.

Northshore

Home – Northshore School District (nsd.org)

All District Schools Closed Thurs. January 18: Today, January 18, all Northshore schools are closed due to icy and extremely hazardous conditions. Precipitation and freezing temperatures have resulted in icy roads, sidewalks, and parking lots and widespread issues throughout the district. All district schools are closed, and there are no after-school, evening activities including athletics. Childcare in our schools are also closed. The Northshore Admin Center is open but with limited service.

Snohomish

Snohomish School District: Due to road conditions, there will be a two-hour (2) delayed start on Thursday, January 18 in the Snohomish School District.

We will continue monitoring conditions throughout the evening/morning and will notify families by 7:15 a.m. should the situation change. If there is no updated message in the morning, please then know we will hold at the two-hour (2) delayed start, and buses will be on limited transportation (inclement weather/snow) routes.

The following will apply:

  • Buses are on limited transportation (inclement weather/snow) routes (the decision will remain in effect for the entire day). The times and locations on the limited transportation (inclement weather/snow) pdfs reflect normal pick-up times – please add two (2) hours for a two-hour school delay.
  • All regular full-day classes including all-day ECEAP will be held two hours later than normal schedules (please contact individual schools for adjusted bell times). The school day will be released at normal afternoon release times.
  • AIM High School’s morning session will be held from 10 a.m. to noon and the afternoon session from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.No a.m. and/or p.m. half-day special education preschool or half-day ECEAP.
  • No morning elementary band.
  • No zero-hour classes.
  • No morning Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center.
