Second traffic collision on I-5 in less than 48 hours in North County claims the life of Lynnwood man

MARYSVILLE—A 58-year-old Lynnwood man attempting to fuel a disabled vehicle on I-5 southbound, in the shoulder lane, was struck and killed by a passing vehicle on the evening of Sunday, March 3.

The driver, a 52-year-old man from Everett, was not injured after the incident. The passenger in the disabled vehicle, a 60-year-old woman from Marysville, was also not injured.

According to Washington State Patrol, at around 5 p.m., the driver veered into the shoulder striking the 58-year-old man as he fueled his disabled vehicle.

The incident occurred six miles south of where Washington State Patrol Trooper Chris Gadd was tragically killed in the line-of-duty on Saturday, March 2, after being struck by a motorist on southbound I-5 near 136th Street North in Marysville.
