Snohomish County Auditor Garth Fell said that he expects about a 50% turnout. “[The primary] appears to be during a time of year and in a situation where the results will be relevant, so we anticipate the participation and turnout will be greater as a result of that.”
He mentioned in the past that when one party would do a primary, often the party wouldn’t use the results, or the results were so late in the race that it was no longer competitive.
“We encourage people, if they feel a strong affiliation with either of the parties, to go ahead and vote that ballot and get it back so we can make sure their voice is heard at the party level,” Fell said.
