EVERETT—More than 30 Snohomish County women spent the weekend climbing ladders, handling hoses, forcing doors and learning the basics of emergency medical care during the Future Women in EMS and Fire workshop that was held at the South County Fire Training Center in Everett on June 22 and 23.
More than 70 women applied for the workshop, which was being offered for the first time in Snohomish County.
This event—designed by women for women— was to actively recruit females to the fire service. Attendees participated in hands-on demonstrations and networking with women firefighters and paramedics from agencies across Snohomish County, including Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue, South County Fire, Everett Fire, Marysville Fire, Tulalip Bay Fire and Sky Valley Fire.
