Peterson receives two paychecks for his work

As a concerned citizen and taxpayer, I am writing to bring attention to a pressing issue regarding fair compensation and public service. The Equal Pay Act of 1963 and Title VII of 1964 are federal laws that ensure equal pay for equal work. However, I have noticed a discrepancy in our local government that warrants scrutiny.

Representative Peterson, who serves as both a State Representative and a Snohomish County Councilman, receives two paychecks for his work. This raises questions about fairness and accountability. As taxpayers, we should expect our elected officials to uphold the principles of equal pay for equal work.

I urge our community to consider the implications of this practice and whether it aligns with our values of fairness and transparency. I hope this letter sparks a necessary conversation about ensuring our public servants are held to the same standards as the citizens they represent.

Thank you,

Former Mukilteo City Councilman Riaz Khan
